The CNC LAB project, supported by the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze, is aimed at providing training for 15 under-18s who have finished the compulsory schooling period. The learning itinerary comprises 2,100 hours, including 630 hours of internship. The professional figure defined by the programme operates in the processing, construction and repair of mechanical parts with specialisation in managing NC (numerical control) machinery. These are either individual machines, machines connected along production lines or integrated systems.
The trained individual will be in a position to understand the structure and modes of operation of the computer numerical control (CNC) machines, will be familiar with the work-cycle of the product and the technologies used to produce it, and will be qualified to apply the procedures necessary to create, insert and modify the work programmes of the existing machines. Close liaison with Nuovo Pignone S.p.A. and the Leonardo da Vinci technical school permit a specialist training, also as a result of the use of cutting-edge machinery.
The project is aimed at supporting and helping to resolve the problem connected with school dropout through training processes aimed at job placement for all categories of young people in difficulty. This is a topic not always addressed by the Public Sector as a result of the numerous requests for help.
